Board of Directors Meeting Minutes – November 21, 2124

Meeting called to order 12:05PM

Attendees:  Wayne Kopp, Mike Kirkby, Dave Boyle, Jack Gjeldum, Dave Boyle, Dave Freni, Arnie Walker, Keith Van  Emmerik, Russ Warren, Will Lowe, Greg Lewandowski, Carolyn Wilberts, and John DiClemente.

Approved minutes from previous 9/24/2024 Board meeting.

League registration results

• Jack presented:
  • Monday 76 Players        24 Subs           2 Questionables
  • Tuesday 53 Players        13 Subs           1 Questionable
  • Thursday Comp 65 Players        12 Subs           0
  • Thursday Rec 55 Players        12 Subs           4 Questionables

• Decisions on registration results
  • Monday – Carolyn, Monday League Coordinator, will attempt to recruit 8 players from sub list or other leagues to form 7 teams of 12 players (84 players). If unsuccessful, league may be reduced to 6 teams of 12 or 13 (72 or 78 players).
  • Tuesday – Arnie, Tuesday League Coordinator with help for Jack, will attempt to recruit 7 players from sub list or other leagues to form 5 teams of 12 players (total 60 players). If unsuccessful, league may be reduced to 4 teams.
  • Thursday Competitive – Greg, the Thurs Comp League Coordinator, has sufficient players to draft 5 teams of 12 players (60 players). Since 5 players will not be selected, they will be given the option to play in Thursday Rec league.
  • Thursday Recreation – John DiClemente, Thursday Recreation League Coordinator, will attempt to recruit 5 players from players 5 teams of 12 players (60 players) that aren’t drafted by Thursday Com League, sub list or other leagues.
  • Will mentioned that he will need final list of players in League drafts by November 29^th so he can prepare everything needed for drafts(name tags, draft boards, etc.)

• Draft Dates
  • Thursday Competitive – Monday, December 2, 2024
  • Tuesday Competitive – Thursday, December 5, 2024
  • Monday Recreation – Monday, December 9, 2024
  • Thursday Recreation – Thursday, December 12, 2024

• League Games Start Time
  • Games for all Leagues will begin at 9:00am. Players and umpires should be at fields no later than 8:30am.

• League shirts
  • Keith provided update on sponsors and league shirts. Decision on number for teams affects number of sponsors.  If we have a total of 22 teams, which is the goal, we will need at least 1 addition sponsor.  Dave F was asked to confirm if HORNZ was willing to continue sponsorship. (update: Yes, HORNZ is willing to sponsor).

• Umpires
  • Paul Wilson, Hank Arsenault, Mike Kirkby, Will Lowe, Charlie Richardson and Bob Lathrop have all agreed to umpire at different levels of availability. Dave F took action to verify whether or not John Garda is willing to umpire . (Update:  John Garda has agreed to umpire Thursday Rec at Palma Sola only).
  • Dave F will also inform umpires that they need to sign up as an umpire on the League registration site.

• General Rules
  • Dave F distributed copies of the revised General Rules inclusive of “Code of Conduct”. A couple of corrections and suggestions were offered.  Dave will incorporate and forward final version to Russ for posting on web site.

• Financial
  • Jack presented BSS Financial update. BSS is in good financial standing.

• Board agreed to take an action to decide on how to resolve who is the league champion if we don’t have playoffs and there’s a tie.

(Update:  BSS does not have League playoffs.  We have an end of season tournaments which have no bearing on league champion.  If there is a tie, the tiebreaker should be which team had the better record in head-to-head regular season games.  In the remote possibility that there’s still a tie (split is possible in head to head games), the Board needs to decide on how a champion is determined.
