Board of Directors Meeting Minutes – October 16, 2025

Meeting called to order 12:17PM

Attendees:  Wayne, Arnie, Mike, Keith, Dave F., Jack , Dave B. (by phone) , Will

Approved September 18, 2025 Board minutes

1. Wayne – Discussed Sarasota games held on Wednesday 9/15. All felt games went well, good competition and good participation from both teams at after games gathering at Clancy’s.

We expressed gratitude to Rocco for purchasing team shirts.

2. Board agreed that the ne BSS 4’ by 8’ banner looked good attached the ball field fence and that attaching a holder for BSS business cards should be good for advertising BSS league.
3. Dave F. presented finalized rule changes:
   • In General Rules –  Anyone turning 60 anytime in year of league play is eligible to play in that year and eligible to play in the last quarter of the prior year beginning October 1st for rating and familiarization purposes.
   • Competitive and Recreation Rules:
     1. Runner on base must maintain contact with base until ball contacts bat, plate or ground. Runner will be called out if he or she leaves before contact, such as on a swing and miss before ball contacts plate or ground
     2. When a batter elects to remain at bat after a walk(comp league batter has to take 1^stwalk), the count reverts to 1 ball – 1 strike. If batter is walked again, batter is awarded 2^nd base and if runners are at 1^st and/or second, base runners advance accordingly.

4. Jack and Keith – League play registration is set to begin Friday, October 24 and end Monday, November 17. Jack will provide Keith a list of registered players on November 19^th for the rating committee to begin rating players on  November 20^th.  Goal is to provide managers a rated list of players for applicable leagues as soon as possible for draft preparation.

Draft Schedule:

• Thursday Competitive League, Monday December 1, 2025
• Tuesday Competitive League, Thursday December 4, 2025
• Monday Recreation League, Monday December 8, 2025
• Thursday Recreation League, Thursday December 11, 2025

5. Will – Discussed sign-up process and score boards. All is ready to go.  Will tested registration sign-up procedures and all went well.  Mike Kirkby will assist Will with sign-ups.
6. Board Decision – Thursday Recreation league will be restricted to 3, 4, 5 and 6 rated players. No 1 or 2 rated players allowed.

Monday Recreation league was discussed as well, but decision was placed on hold.

7. There may be a need for up to 3 new managers, board will begin recruitment.
8. Jack – BSS is in good financial standings.

Next Board meeting will be November 20^th
