Board of Directors Meeting Minutes – Sept 18, 2025

Meeting called to order 12:13PM

Approved August 7, 2025 Board minutes

1. Wayne – League Advertisement
   • Board decided NOT to post advertisements in local papers, doesn’t seem cost effective method of advertising.
   • Wayne to check with Bray about possible signage in parking area and about use of electronic sign at 51^st street entrance.
   • Registration for 2026 League play will begin October 24.
2. Dave F. – Summary of Rule Changes and Clarifications
   • In League General Rules – Players that are turning 60 years old anytime in the year of league play is eligible to play in that year (as current rules state).
   • CHANGE:  Any player turning 60 anytime in the year of league play is eligible to play in that year and the last quarter of the previous year beginning October 1.  This change was made to enable player to be rated and to allow player to become familiar with the league and players before league play begins.
     2026. Example: Player turns 60 in November of 2026.  Player is eligible to play in 2026 Leagues and can begin playing recreation ball October 1, 2025.
   • Runner Leaving Base Early Rule for all Leagues
     1. Runner must maintain contact with base until pitched ball makes contact with bat, home plate or ground. Once ball contacts one of the 3, runner is allowed to leave base.
   • Player elects to remain at bat after being walked for all leagues(Competitive League – Player is required to take 1^st walk).
     1. Once batter elects to remain at bat after being walked, count reverts to 1 ball and 1 strike. If batter is walked again, batter is awarded 2^nd base and any existing runners move up accordingly to accommodate batter being awarded 2^nd base.
        • Example: runners on 1^st and 2^nd and batter is walked twice.  Batter is awarded 2^nd base(mandatory), the existing runner at 1^st base advances to 3^rd base and the existing runner on 2^nd advances to home plate (scores).  If an existing runner is only on 2^nd base, that runner is awarded 3^rd base and if existing runner only on 3^rd base, existing runner does not advance.  Runners only advance to accommodate batter being awarded 2^nd
     2. Wayne – Substitute Players
        • Subs pay $10 fee for the season.
     3. Wayne – Additional League Play (Summer and nights)
        • Wayne to contact Sarasota to discuss their summer schedule to ensure that if we did form a summer league, it wouldn’t conflict with Sarasota’s schedule.
        • Wayne to contact Bray to see what days/nights fields are available and what field cost are for night play.
          1. Board voiced concerns about the numbers and skill levels of players available during summer months.

5. Keith – Balls and Shirts
   • Keith will purchase more 44-375 and 52-300 balls for 2026 League play. Will continue with same Baden ball we’ve been using.
   • League shirts will have sponsor logo on back and BSS logo with phone number on upper left front (larger than current sleeve version).
   • Hats will be purchase and sold at cost.
6. Arnie – League Schedules
   • Arnie and John DiClemente will draft Leagues schedules
7. Jack – Financial Status
   • BSS in good financial standings.
8. Next meeting is scheduled for October 16, 2025.
