Approved July 9, 2026 Board minutes
- Dave B.
- Player rating committee
- Dave will be assuming chairmanship of rating committee from Keith.
- Dave is forming a new 7 person committee with himself and 3 representatives from Recreation league and 3 from Competitive league. Representatives will be announced in near future.
- Player rating process
- Dave presented a draft process with the intent to make the rating determinations less subjective by establishing rating criteria along with more detailed sub criteria. Keith, during his leadership tenure, also introduced rating criteria and Dave’s proposed process can be considered a process improvement.
- Player rating committee
Example: Primary criteria – Hitting
Two sub criteria – Power and On Base %
There will be 4 primary criteria and 2 sub criteria for each primary with ratings 1-5 with 5 being superior. With a total of 8 sub criteria and max of 5 points each, the highest possible rating will be 40.
The players will then be grouped into 5 ratings groups: A, B, C, D & E with A being the highest. Number and Group association will be determined by the committee
Example: Players rated 35-40 may be in Group A.
Dave was given approval to proceed with establishing the committee and using his process.

- BSS age threshold
- An email survey was sent to all BSS players asking them to respond to 3 questions:
- Should we lower age to 55?
- If answer to question 1 is no, would you favor another age between 55-60?
- If we lower the age, will you continue to participate?
- An email survey was sent to all BSS players asking them to respond to 3 questions:
- BSS age threshold
We received roughly 30% response and 26% of those responses were negative. After serious consideration of the pros and cons of changing the age, the board decided to leave BSS as an age 60 and over organization.
One change was agreed to: Our existing age stipulation states that a player that turns 60 anytime in the year of league play is eligible to play in that year and is eligible to play recreation ball beginning October 1st of the year before turning 60.
The Board agreed to move eligible to play recreation ball back 1 month to September 1st, to allow more time for rating the players.

- September 5th Marauders game
- We have acquired the ability to set up a PR table at the Marauders game. We were required to purchase 25 tickets. Tickets will be for sale $10. And we will announce when they’ll be available. It is the last Marauders home game so it usually is a sell-out.
- We are purchasing a BSS banner to display on the front of our PR table and looking at purchasing Koozies and additional business card to hand out.
- September 5th Marauders game
- Having a Facebook add cost $5./day. Wayne is going to discuss with Jeff Brooke before the board considers running an FB add for a finite oeriod of time.
- Next meeting scheduled for Thursday August 27th.
