Approved March 20, 2025 Board minutes
League Coordinator’s assessment of their leagues this year
- Greg Lewandowski for Thursday Competitive League
- Greg stated the league ran well this year, however, he mentioned a concern about not having regular umpires to improve consistency of rulings and manage incidences that may occur on the field.
- The Board has discussed the desire to have additional umpires, but there hasn’t been people interested in volunteering to umpire. Board acknowledged that it is not entertaining paying umpires.
- Board suggested that between the team managers and Board members on the field, incidences involving rules and/or conduct can be dealt with appropriately.
- Carolyn Wilberts for Monday Recreation League
- Carolyn mentioned that there were some hiccups during the season, mostly with finding and assigning substitutes. Teams only had 12 players this year, one less that the normal 13 we’ve had in past years, but that was just a result of the number of players the registered to play Mondays. Carolyn suggested that we assign 14 players per team and if it means that we only have 5 teams versus the 7 we’ve normally had, so be it. Players and managers also recommended 14 players per team.
- Board agreed to consider 14 players per team if number of registered players accommodates.
- Carolyn suggested having a meeting with managers and umpires prior to start of next season to discuss rules and league processes.
- Board agreed
- Carolyn expressed concern over the “base runner leaving base early” rule that was instituted this year.
- Board understood concern, but decided to stay the course with the current rule. Even though the new rule was controversial at beginning of season, players seemed to adjust as season progressed.

- Board agreed, but also acknowledged that information was provided, just some managers didn’t keep up with current information.

- Update on Player Ratings – Keith
- Keith consolidated suggested rating changes provided by managers and league coordinators. Review of the ratings by ratings committee will occur later in the year, prior to next year’s draft.
- Second base on ball rule at same during same at bat – Dave F.
- Dave presented a proposal from the Rules committee to address the situation when a batter is walked and elects to stay at bat. The current rule states “the at-bat pitch count will continue and not start over again. Pitcher is expected to throw strikes and not waste time throwing a lot of balls”
- UPDATE SINCE MEETING: The proposed rule change helps encourage the pitcher to throw a strike and speed up game. This isn’t the exact wording, but the jist is: “When batter elects to remain at bat, pitch count reverts to 1 ball, 1 strike. If batter is walked again, batter is granted 2nd base and any existing runners on 1st or 2nd bases will move up accordingly.”
- BSS Finance- Jack
- Jack mentioned BSS is in good financial standing
