Board of Directors Meeting Minutes – October 15, 2026

Meeting called to order 12:37pm

Approved August 27, 2026 Board minutes

1. Will L.
   1. Presented samples of name boards to be used for league player draft process
   2. All preparation is on schedule for drafts beginning 11/30.
2. Dave B.
   1. Presented Ratings Committee progress
      1. Decided to revert to six categories, 1-6 ratings vs initial A-E five categories. Addition 1 through 40 detail ratings (max of 10 points in 4 main skill areas) will be provided to managers after registration’s complete and before drafts.

Example:  Managers will be provided list of candidates with ratings such as:

Player Jim rated a 1-36, Bob – 2-29, etc.

1. There are 7 members on Ratings Committee. Dave mentioned he preferred to have a minimum of 4 raters for each player which is difficult at times because not all raters know every player.  Over the next month before drafts begin, emphasis will be place on rating committee observing yet-to-be rated players.  There’s also a strong possibility some of the unrated, therefore unseen players, will not register.

• Ratings will be complete prior to drafts, players not rated will only be allowed to be subs, but will still need to be rated before playing.

1. BSS Player Retention Committee
   1. Dave has volunteered to form and lead a player retention committee focused on BSS PR and player recruitment initiatives.
   2. Dave is soliciting for committee members, anyone interested please contact Dave B.
2. Pete M.- Thursday Competitive League Coordinator
   1. Presented substitute player selection process
      1. Selection process for next week’s games will occur immediately after completion of this week’s games. Managers and Coordinator will gather following completion of games and make selections from bye team or sub list, the order based on current standing (last team getting 1^st pick).
   2. Dave F. – Rule update
      1. Presented updated rules – no issues
      2. Rules committee to convene next week to review rules one last time before leagues begin.
      3. Meeting of managers, coordinators, board members and umpires to be schedule before league play begins to familiarize everyone with rules, particularly all rule changes.
      4. Call for umpires – If anyone is or knows anyone interested in umpiring, please contact Dave F. We will continue to encourage players on bye team or sub list that are not playing to please consider being an umpire.
   3. Rick S. – Monday league LC
      1. Rick presented an out-brief of the Marauders game outreach initiative
         1. Results were not as good as anticipated due to:
            1. Lack of patrons….far fewer people attended game than expected
            2. Sub-optimal table location (was not location agreed to in planning process)
         2. Rick brainstormed the idea of convincing LECOM and/or Marauder’s management to allow a 2-inning BSS exhibition prior to one of their games next year so fans see first had what BSS is all about. Board agreed to consider, but not very hopeful that management will allow.

         1. BSS in good financial standing

         1. Suggested the need to begin recruiting new board members, 2 or 3 current members could be departing with the next year.
         2. Blast email to fulltime resident BSS players will be sent requesting interest in becoming a BSS board member
